During a trip to Oregon and Washington in the summer of 2014, members of my family and I made a short climb to the top of Larch Mountain. This vantage point provides an excellent view of several of the peaks of the Cascade Range. Mount Hood is closer and Mount Rainier is taller, but I was most amazed by the grandeur of Mount Adams, which dominates the horizon more than fifty miles away. Because of the contrast inherent to this scene, I decided to convert it to a monochrome image, which best conveys the impression of what I saw that day.
